About Art Around the Corner

PUBLIC SPACE TRANSFORMATION

The Art Around the Corner Foundation (AAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts, enriching the community, and bringing fine arts to the heart of historic St. George and to our extended gallery sites. The Foundation’s flagship project is the Art Around the Corner Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit, a collection of sculptures from nationally renowned artists. The show changes each spring, with approximately two dozen pieces installed annually.

In 2020, AAC expanded its charter by partnering with the City of St. George and the DOCUTAH International Documentary Film Festival to create the mural that now adorns the front of the St. George Art Museum. AAC has since overseen the creation of a mural on the historic Electric Theater Center and will continue to seek out opportunities for future mural installations. Additionally, following the transformation of a group of utility boxes into works of art in the downtown Arts District, Art Around the Corner will assume the oversight of this ongoing program.

YOUNG CREATORS PROGRAM

This program encourages high school art and welding students to create three-dimensional art. Student-submitted art is judged based on established criteria, with prizes awarded for works meeting high artistic standards. At the annual gala event, program participants have the opportunity to meet and mingle with AAC artists and offer their art for sale. The Young Creators Program provides a platform for emerging artists to gain confidence in their artistic abilities while interacting with successful professional artists.

FOURTH GRADE SCHOOL TOURS
OF OUTDOOR SCULPTURE GALLERY

During the early months of the new year, numerous classes of fourth-grade students are brought to Town Square for a personal art tour and tutorial about the lost wax process of creating bronze sculptures. Students are introduced to the artwork with age-appropriate explanations and engaging questions to help stimulate their love of art and creativity. The students show great enthusiasm for the sculptures located in their city.
