JAMES HAIRE – FORT COLLINS, CO

“Forty Love”

Bronze

50” X 45” X 27”

$30,000

Years ago, I did a small, desk-sized piece of a younger woman called “Thirty Love.” So, in 2000, when I was commissioned by a couple from Connecticut to do a tennis-themed piece of a middle-aged woman, I called it “Forty Love.” There are so many things I love about this piece: The naturalness of the pose, and the pleats in the skirt; the challenges and fun of figuring out how to sculpt the racket out of balsa wood, and then stringing it in metal. The finished sculpture depicts a woman waiting to play tennis or resting after a game.
