At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, QC, an unknown 14-year-old girl from Romania set the sporting world ablaze when she was awarded the first-ever perfect 10s for several flawless performances, including her routine on the balance beam that inspired this work. Through her artistry, fearlessness and sheer brilliance, Nadia Comăneci captured hearts the world over and inspired an entire generation of gymnasts and fans. Balance and harmony are critical in both gymnastics and art. A beautiful composition requires a careful consideration of geometric shapes and numbers. Levi Selway

Levi Selway is a British award-winning, Florence Academy-trained figure sculptor.
