Art has always been my way of understanding the world. Every time I tried to do something different, the Universe returned me to fine art. So, I have been a full-time artist since 1981 working primarily in watercolor, but proficient in any media. In 1998, my husband Gary Pitcher began “Dragon Casting” an art bronze casting service to fulfill my need to go 3-D. Working alone in an attic garret never appealed to me either, so I opened the Showcase Art Center in 1996. The Showcase Art Center is a creative mini-mall featuring an art gallery, art supplies, framing, art-to-wear, a fiber maker space, art classes, and studio rentals. I love to share and encourage others to try art, for it will enrich one’s spirit. It certainly has enriched mine.

Colette has appeared on HGTV’s “That’s Clever” and is the author of Watercolor Painting for Dummies and Acrylic Painting for Dummies by Wiley Publishing. She has won numerous awards for art and was a 2012 recipient of the community impact award, named an Outstanding Woman of Weld County, Arts Alive, Winner’s Circle recipient from the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, 2023 honored alumni at UNC, and 2024 hall of fame inductee to Greeley Arts Legacy.

“Ribet Rodeo”, bronze, shows the whimsical side of my sculpture. Why not have fun with art? This frog has a companion in the saddle he sports. The saddle has turned into a Peacock! Irresistibly interactive, it is okay to climb aboard and ride the frog with the aid of the peacock saddle. Hopefully the sculpture will stimulate the viewer’s imagination to climb on and take a selfie. #ridethe frog
