Tamara Robertson, a native of Texas, now lives and works in the magical cypress forest of Northwest Louisiana. Tamara has created art since she could first hold an object as a child and has been a full time sculpture artist since 2009. Though she started her professional art career as a graphic designer, she found her true love is creating large scale metal sculpture. Tamara has had the privilege of showing her work in multiple solo and group exhibitions and her work is a part of several public and private art collections including the J.W. Marriott family of hotels as well as public universities. Tamara’s greatest influence is her surroundings thus many of her materials and inspirations have come from the wild environment surrounding her home and studio. She responds to this stimulation by inventing new techniques, acquiring new skills and striving to make each new work innovative in some way.

Tamara started rolling rings and bending metal for “Open Heart” not knowing what these elements were ultimately going to be. As she began to accumulate a large number of rings and curves she started laying them out in different patterns and silhouettes to see what this particular pile of metal shapes wanted to mature into. During this time in the back of Tamara’s mind was rolling around how the world is in need of more love, empathy, and understanding. Open Heart was born!
Tamara performed all the welding, metal bending, and ring manufacturing of this sculpture.
