Edo began his artistic journey at a young age, attending Talma Yellin High School for the Arts in Israel before continuing his studies at an art academy there. After completing his education, he spent more than a year traveling in Africa, working in South Africa and undertaking an overland journey by Land Rover through Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
Exploring his next steps, he applied to art schools in both California and Halifax, Canada. Although both programs appealed to him, he ultimately chose California and earned his M.F.A. from California College of the Arts in 1980.
He later taught sculpture as a visiting professor at UC Santa Cruz and San Francisco State University. While he values teaching, sustaining an art career—like many artists—has presented economic challenges. During this time, he received a Ford Foundation Award at California College of the Arts and the Buck Award from Marin County. He exhibited in San Francisco and later with O.K. Harris in SoHo, Manhattan.
For him, continuing to create and remain engaged in the artistic process has never been about fame or fortune—though recognition is welcome. It is driven by a deep and persistent commitment to making meaningful work and contributing something thoughtful through art.
