Dancing Lone Star

Dancing Lone Star by John Banks

“Dancing Lone Star”. 2011, aluminum,
This sculpture presents a sweeping image of a dance movement frozen in time. The geometric composition of hard sharp triangles is complemented by the soft circular shape of the pipe column. This sculpture forms into a perfect image of a five-point star when view from the right direction called the focal point.
It previously showed in Boulder City, Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada and Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
This work shows a geometric abstract configuration that is floating on a curved column. The result exemplifies a dance movement frozen in time. The composition is inspired by the geometric configuration that forms into the perfect shape of a five-point star. This appears when viewed from one direction called the “focal point”. The image of a star is best displayed with a simple background like the sky and is appropriate for any outdoor site.
This 100% aluminum sculpture already has an extended outdoor display since 2011.
